Slurry Tanker: Andy’s Spreading More Effectively With His Tandem Axle

Andy Roberts needed some advice on his saucer and effluent pond, and was looking to upgrade his slurry tanker when he first came across Nevada. Lloyd made a visit to the farm in Burnham, South Canterbury to see what he could do to help...

Andy’s a farmer who values his effluent nutrients. The dairy farm was set up with a saucer collecting effluent from the milking shed which could be pumped out to a travelling irrigator. Excess effluent would pump into a concrete lined pond, and he would use his 10,000L Joskin slurry tanker to spread over paddocks further away.

  • ‘We wanted to upgrade for quicker spreading, a larger capacity, and we wanted a tandem axle.’

He was looking for something bigger so he could cart and spread more. The Nevada 14,000L slurry tanker was a nice size upgrade, and one his tractor could easily handle. He also liked the idea of moving from a single axle to a tandem axle, making it easier to tow.

  • ‘The Nevada slurry tanker is much faster and the tandem axle is far superior. It’s going very well.’
