The Nevada Story

Trusted for Safety and Reliability

Celebrating Over 30 Years!

Nevada’s come a long way over the past 30 years.

Our story starts back in 1992 when Nevada was once known as MidWest Machinery. Back then MidWest Machinery was a small farm machinery shop in Hawera, South Taranaki run by the Thomas brothers - Kevin and Lloyd.

The Thomas brothers built the business on strong values of good people, solids relationships, hard work, quality products, honesty and integrity, and 30 years on these values are just as strong today as they were in 1992 - and we don’t see them changing any time soon!

MidWest's Evolution

Over the years we've continued to seek out and deliver the best products for Kiwi farmers, while also challenging ourselves, and the way we do things, because we strive to be better.

MidWest Machinery was a general farm machinery shop, but as it grew, so too did the demand for dairy farm effluent equipment – so much so that it had become a large part of the business.

Change was in the air, and environmental sustainability was becoming more of a focus in society. Councils were tightening rules and regulations, and farmers were asking for help navigating the changing landscape….and so MidWest Machinery responded to the needs of farmers, evolving from a general farm machinery store into effluent management specialists – Nevada.

Nevada

Always seeking to deliver the best products and equipment for farmers, Nevada began to design and develop our own equipment based on the needs of kiwi dairy farmers. To ensure top quality and reliability, our equipment is designed and built in New Zealand with components fabricated by engineers in New Zealand and Europe.

Specialising in effluent management, it’s not just about providing quality effluent equipment. Farmers need the right equipment to get the right outcome. So along the way the Nevada team have skilled themselves on everything there is to know about effluent management, becoming accredited dairy farm effluent designers, keeping up with council rules and regulations, and working with farmers on a whole heap of different effluent management challenges across the varying farming landscapes of New Zealand.

Today Nevada is 'trusted for safety & reliability' not just because our products live up to their reputation, but because of our commitment to providing practical, professional advice and service. Nevada’s slurry tankers, pond stirrers and effluent management systems can be seen right throughout New Zealand, Australia, and have also made their way over to South America and the United States!

Nick Calow

Nick
Calow

Nick has first-hand experience when it comes to dairy farming and agricultural machinery – in fact he’s born and bred on the farm, a true kiwi farmer through and through.  Nick applies this experience and understanding in helping farmers find solutions to their effluent management systems with a focus not only on the equipment, but how it will work in conjunction with existing systems and staff.

We worked on a 40x40m pond with a crust so thick you could walk on it. We had another brand of stirrer on it which did nothing; so we put our Nevada on it and the whole pond was swirling within about 15 hours.
