Electric Pond Stirrer: Kevin Says Effluent Pond Safety Is Paramount

Kevin Julian, a dairy farmer in Atiamuri (Waikato) runs an 82ha farm, flat contour on basically two-levels, milking 235 cows once a day all year round, achieving approximately 1,100kgs of milk solids per hectare and an average of 380kg milk solids per cow. His farm has an in-shed feeding system delivering on average 3kgs of feed to each cow every day of the year.

The farm can irrigate the dairy effluent up to 30ha so far, and Kevin recently put in a big synthetic-lined 1 million litre pond (slightly bigger than they required), and decided to replace its pond equipment.

After consulting with Nevada, Kevin was happy to purchase a Nevada Electric Pond Stirrer (7 metre) and a Nevada PondBoom™ PB900 (9 metre).

A common requirement amongst many of Nevada’s clients is the need for ‘safety’ and ‘ease of maintenance'. Kevin was no exception to these two factors, with safety being the major issue. So when he was looking for pond effluent equipment he was impressed by how quick and easy the Nevada PondBoom™ was able to retrieve the floating pump (Kevin used his existing Yardmaster pump on his new Nevada PondBoom™), this made for easy servicing and safety as he didn’t require entering onto the pond.

The electric pond stirrer was also very safe and easy to maintain being shore mounted with a high performing propellor. Kevin is now able to easily maintain both pieces of equipment from the safety of the shore along with having high performance machinery.
